Dr. Daniel Gibbons was invited to present a paper at the Sixteenth Century Society's annual conference in Baltimore, MD, in October 2023, titled "Ethical Nonbeing in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo and Juliet". 

Dr. Ernest Suarez's edition of "A Scrap in the Blessings Jar: New and Selected Poem: (Louisiana State University Press) by David Bottoms was published on October 4, 2023. On October 7, 2023 he gave a talk about the volume at the Georgia Tech University. A Scrap in the Blessings Jar (lsupress.org)

Dr. Ernest Suarez and Justin Mitchell moderated a seminar, "Rethinking Cold War Literary Culture" on October 14, 2023 at the annual conference of the Association of Literary Scholars, Critics, and Writers annual conference at the Univeristy of Houston.

Sister Lucias Treanor, FSE gave a presenation in September entitled "Truth in Three Medieval texts: De consolatione philosophae, Tria sunt, and Boece" at the Conference "Truth in Public and Private Life," The Fellowship of Catholic Scholars. 

Dr. Megan Murton presented a paper in June 2023 entitled “Consolation in Translation: Walton’s Boethius and the Boke of Coumfort” at the Symposium for Medieval and Renaissance Studies in St. Louis, Missouri. This work was supported by the Interdisciplinary Research Fellowship she received from the School of Arts & Sciences in 2022.

Dr. Lilla Kopár was invited in July 2023 to present a paper titled “From Props to Actors: Early Medieval Speaking Objects” at the 6th international conference on Eastern & Western Traditions of European Iconology at the University of Szeged in Hungary.

Rachel Daly (PhD student) attended the Institute for Human Ecology's seminar "Eternal Beauty: Principles and Disputations" June 20–27 at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome, Italy.

Vermilion Literary Magazine published Issue 4 | Spring 2023 on April 17th. The issue includes poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, screenwriting, and visual art submitted from members across the university community. The magazine is currently accepting submissions for Issue 5 | Winter 2023.

Matthew Ryan's (Ph.D. student) paper, "Urban Space and the Threshold of Freedom in Anna Burns's Milkman" won the award for best graduate student paper at the American Conference for Irish Studies Mid-Atlantic and New England regional meeting.

Dr. Susan M. Felch’s (Ph.D. 1991) edition of the works of Anne Lock won the 2022 Josephine Roberts Award for a Scholarly Edition from the Society for Early Modern Women and Gender. Dr. Felch is Professor of English (Emerita) at Calvin University.
