Julia Dejak with the Cathy Ellen Roberts Award

Jules Dejak (English '27) received the Cathy Ellen Roberts Excellence in Writing Award for her essay "A Little Anecdote from November 8th".

"I would just like to say how honored I am to have been chosen as the recipient of the Cathy Ellen Roberts Excellence in Writing Award. It means a great deal to me to have been recognized in this way - I was equally touched and surprised! I have definitely found a home here at Catholic University especially within the English department. I have never felt so supported and welcomed as a writer and person, and would just like to further extend my gratitude and thanks. "  Jules Dejak

Presented by friends of Cathy Ellen Roberts, this award is provided to a Catholic University English major who, in the assessment of the department faculty, has demonstrated a passion for writing. While at CUA (BA English 1973) and later in her career as an editorial writer, Cathy worked tirelessly to elevate the craft of informational writing. Jules receives as part of her award $500 and a commemorative plaque. It is the hope of the donors, who loved Cathy, that this award will inspire the recipient to pursue with vigor the craft that Cathy so loved. The English department wishes to express its grateful appreciation for their generosity.
