The crawling swelter of September days
pierced by rains so thick and sudden
and suddenly gone that they seem to betray
another world sliding through the open
space a moment between the sun's rays,
I say that swelter will not fool me again:
I will give my firstfruits while they are gold --
take time to sit and watch when I am old.

Welcome to all new students, and welcome back dear students who are returning! I hope to speak with you all about your plans for the future before you we get much older. Until then, best wishes in your studies, and in all things.
