The Catholic U. Writing Center had an exciting and eventful Fall 2018 semester. In October, we transitioned to using the EAB platform for scheduling. The new scheduler is now used widely across university offices including Advising and Tutoring and will provide significant new opportunities for tracking and supporting students.
The Writing Center Undergraduate Tutor program reached another milestone by sending its first cohort to the International Writing Center Association conference. Congratulations to Rachel de Rosset (B.A. English '19) and Peter Varga (B.A. Psychology '19), and also to Graduate Assistant Director Bethany Besteman (English Ph.D. candidate), for their superb presentations and for their important contributions to the field! We also welcomed a new cohort of Writing Center Undergraduate Tutors: Marissa Liotta (B.M. Musical Theater '20), Danielle Schirripa (B.A. Philosophy '19), Joe Rose (B.A. English '20), Marie Erickson (B.A. Secondary Education English '20), Samuel Lopez (B.A. English '20), and Morgan Wilder (B.A. Drama '19).
2019 promises be another exciting year for the Writing Center. We look forward to working with our collaborators and friends across campus in the new year, and to recruiting our new cohort of WCUT staff in the spring. For those interested in potentially joining our team, you can read more about the nomination and application process here.
