Mary Jo Salter is Krieger-Eisenhower Professor in the Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University. She is the editor of The Norton Anthology of Poetry, and the author of nine books of poetry, including Zoom Rooms, The Surveyors, It's Hard to Say: Selected Poems, Nothing by Design, and A Phone Call to the Future.

Before the reading, English Society and Vermilion are hosting an informal discussion of three poems that Prof. Salter will be reading. The poems can be accessed via this link and included in the file is an additional essay that will not be the focus of discussion, but provides additional insight for those who wish to read it.
